What Is Botox?

Botox (Botulinum Toxin A) is a neurotoxin which is produced by the bacteria Clostridum Botulinum, which is purified for clinical and cosmetic use.

Treatment Procedure

The prescription product (Botox™) is injected using a disposable micro needle.  The solution is injected very precisely into specific muscles for complaints of the musculoskeletal system or skin for problems with sweating.  The number of injection sites are dependent on what areas of the body requires treatment and the size of the muscle being injected.

Who Can't Have Botox?

Botox isn't suitable for everyone.  You cannot have anti wrinkle treatments if you;  are pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18 years of age, have a history of anaphylactic shock, have had laser treatment or chemical skin peels in the 6 weeks prior, have implants close to the region to be injected, have a local infection at or close to the injection site or  have an egg allergy.

How Does it Work?

Botox blocks the signals that the brain sends to the muscles it is injected into; temporarily preventing them from contracting as a whole or part depending on the desired outcome.

Hyperhidrosis treatment works in a similar way, the message from the nerve to the sweat gland is temporarily blocked which prevents sweating in the area injected.

Aftercare

Botox can take up to 14 days to take full effect. Sometimes clients may require a top up for perfect results.  Botox injections last between 3-6 months depending on the individual.  We advise you not to drink alcohol, engage in vigorous activity & avoid direct heat for 24 hours post treatment. It is important that the injection site is kept clean until the needle points are fully healed.  Full aftercare advice specific to the treatment you have will be given at your appointment.
